THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE (AND AFTER) CHRISTMAS

It's been over a month since i added to the blog. In that time we have lept from fireworks to christmas, an almost seamless transition.

I love Christmas. I absolutely love it.

In theory it's the ideal holiday. But oh how wrong we are! A visit to a 24-hour Tesco Superstore will soon restore your faith and reaffirm that no, we can't all get along, not even for a day.

People fighting over vegetables, turkeys, crisps, sweets and dvds. Packing a trolley to the brim with food that just won't be eaten. Running around trying to get it done for that one day.

Ah Christmas Day! A peaceful day wedged between the chaos of its own preparation and the perennial nightmare of the January sales. A day which, on preparation alone must surely be the most well-planned day of the year.

And what a day it is! I have to admit, a day to indulge in all life's guilty pleasures (believe me you do feel guilty after an entire tub of Quality Streets!) is a day to enjoy. And I for one do.

But the preparation, that's Christmas. The time leading up to christmas day, full of stress and anxiety.

Quite ironic that so much stress and planning can go into what essentially becomes for most of us, the laziest (and arguably the best) day of the year.

MERRY CHRISTMAS! May you relax, chill out and have a great day. You're going to need it - we start planning for next year on boxing day!
